Hi, I'm Floyd Bullock

I started quilting with my grandmother when I was a teen and made several quilts throughout my college years.  Then I just stopped.  When my son went to college, a few years ago, I started back and I got even more involved when some grand-babies started arriving.  I find quilting to be relaxing, rewarding, and therapeutic.
I really cannot remember what my first quilt was, but it would have been one that was pieced on my machine and hand tied. Once I learned how to quilt by machine, the hand tying gave way to free motion quilting, which is my preferred method today.
The most exciting part of the process to me is developing and laying out the initial design and then looking at the finished project and thinking, “I created something that will be cherished for a lifetime!"
As far as design is concerned, I lean toward the traditional but do like some of the more modern pieces.

I work on two different machines, depending on the size of the project. For smaller pieces (like a baby blanket) I use my Baby Lock Destiny and may quilt in the hoop.  For larger projects I will use a Baby Lock Regalia long-arm quilting machine which features a built-in Stitch Regulator to ensure smooth, precise digital and free-motion stitching.
It is so hard to identify my favorite tools, but if I had to narrow them down, I love my Martelli table and my Oliso iron. I purchase fabric at several different places, depending upon what I need and when I need it.  That said, I am always on the lookout for great buys and something that speaks to me.

A large part of my quilting involves making commemorative quilt art for charity events.

My wife and I live in the beautiful town of New Bern, NC.  I have been in a Quilting Guild for several years.  I enjoy the people, the sharing of ideas, and making friends.
